Swansea City midfielder Leon Britton admits selling Liverpool target Joe Allen would be a big blow.

With Tottenham and Manchester United also believed to be in the hunt it appears to be a matter of when, not if, Allen will leave Swansea.

“We would be disappointed if Joe goes, that goes for the players, the staff and the fans,” said Britton to the South Wales Echo.

“That’s because if he goes, we know we will be losing a really good player.

“Players like Joe are hard to replace — the money they are talking about him going for tells you how good he is.

“But you can’t begrudge him the move if it happens. We would have to wish him good luck.

“We hope he will stick with us, but it would be a great opportunity for him if he ends up going. He deserves the opportunity to go to one of the big clubs not just in England but in European football.”

“They’re very important for me and a key part of how I function,” Rodgers told liverpoolfc.com. “Colin is in tune with how I want to build and play and knows exactly what the model is.

“He is a very talented coach. He actually made his debut for Swansea at Anfield on his birthday. He was playing up front.

“Colin was an outstanding international player so has experienced both the highs and lows.

“He was a loyal servant to Swansea and importantly he knows how I work and we get on well professionally and personally.

“Glen Driscoll is another vital component of what we’re trying to achieve here.

“Heading up performance, he builds the bridge between the medical and football and science. He also knows my methodology.

“Chris Davis is another very talented guy. He’s my analyst and I’m convinced that one day he will become a manager in his own right.”

De Jong is gearing up for another season with City and insists he is ready for the manager’s rotation policy.

“The team is the main thing now,” he stressed.

“Obviously everybody wants to play for themselves individually, but it’s not always going to happen, because we have a big squad. But for the team we just have to go now and try and win as many trophies as we can.

“A lot of teams and a lot of people are going to look up to us after winning the Premiership and we are the team to beat at the moment. But for us as a group, we always keep it calm and we just have to focus on what we do best and that is to play football on the pitch. We just have to do our best.”

The Mirror says City have reportedly rejected a £15.6million offer from Juventus for Dzeko.

City are prepared to sell the unsettled Dzeko just 18 months after splashing out £27million to sign him from Wolfsburg to help fund a move for No 1 target Robin van Persie.

However they want to recoup more of their outlay than Juventus have reportedly offered and know Bayern Munich are also interested.

Juve may return with a loan offer, but that is also likely to be rejected because City are only interested in permanent deals at this stage.

Manchester United reserves coach Warren Joyce says they’re trying to bring through teenage midfielder Mats Daehli.

Manchester United reserves coach Warren Joyce says they’re trying to bring through teenage midfielder Mats Daehli.

The Norwegian midfielder is still eligible for the Academy but had a brief taste of action at a higher level last season and was involved in both Manchester United XI friendlies in Ireland this week.

Indeed, the teenager scored the only goal of the game at Longford Town and clearly caught the eye of the local journalists.

When asked about Daehli’s best position at a post-match press conference in Cork, Joyce replied: “He’s not an out-and-out winger but we want to take him out of the heat of things at the minute as he’s physically nowhere near his maximum.

“So we ask him to take up positions where we can get the ball to him and he can do clever stuff but we don’t see him as an out-and-out winger.

“He’s a clever footballer. He’s got talent but overdid it a little bit tonight and could’ve run a bit harder to get in beyond them to give them problems. He can handle the ball but he’s got a lot to learn about the position. He’s technically a good player, gifted with a quick brain and good mind and sees things.”
